Maizuru, Kyoto. A Kyoto champion who learned to surf in the Sea of Japan, he holds a frustrating, but brilliant record of being two-time runner-up in the most challenging Senior Class division of the All Japan Championship. Small in stature, yet dynamic and astute in competition, he thought about turning pro, but now enjoys and lives a prosperous surfing life with his family, based in Irago that overlooks the Pacific Ocean.
